Robert Whittaker vs. Ikram Aliskerov is an upcoming middleweight bout produced and organized by the Ultimate Fighting Champion that will take place on June 22, 2024, at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The middleweight giants will lock horns and headline UFC on ABC 6(also known as UFC Fight Night: Whittaker vs. Aliskerov).

Earlier the No.3 ranked UFC middleweight, Robert Whittaker was scheduled to fight the No.10 ranked Khamzat Chimaev for the main event. However, Chimaev pulled out due to illness and was replaced by Ikram Aliskerov.

The former middleweight champion, Whittaker is coming off a unanimous decision win against the Brazilian Paulo Costa in his last fight at UFC 298. The fight took place on February 17, 2024, in Anaheim, California, United States. Moreover, it was Whittaker’s bounce back from his previous loss to Dicrsu du Plessis(the current UFC middleweight champion).

Meanwhile, Ikram Aliskerov is coming off a first-round TKO against Warlley Alves at UFC 294 on October 21, 2023. The fight took place in Abu Dhabi, and Aliskerov won the ‘Performance of the Night’ bonus for finishing Alves within 2 minutes and 7 seconds into the first round. He is already on a seven-fight win streak and has only lost to Khamzat Chimaev in his entire MMA career.

Hence the upcoming middleweight matchup is important for both the fighters. For Whittaker, it is his time to close down a show on someone phenomenal like Ikram Aliskerov, remain one of the top middleweights in the promotion, and shoot for another title challenge. Whereas, Alikserov is given an immediate door to face a No.3 ranked middleweight and earn his spot in the rankings table. Eventually, with another win, get a title shot. Aliskerov has already been in the fight camp for a showdown scheduled for June 15, 2024, against Antonio Trocoli, and suddenly was allowed to headline against Whittaker in Saudi Arabia.
