Roman Kopylov is a professional mixed martial artist who fights in the elite professional mixed martial arts promotion, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He has been interested in combat sports since childhood. His fascination led him to find success in his early days as a hand-to-hand combat sambo practitioner.

Roman Kopylov transitioned into a full-time professional mixed martial artist on April 1, 2016, against Felipe Nsue at WCSA Combat Ring 18: X-Fight. Kopylov defeated Felipe by a unanimous decision and started his career with a win. He produced clinical performances in his upcoming matches and after compiling eight straight wins, he made his way into the UFC.

Roman Kopylov made his debut in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) against Karl Roberson at UFC Fight Night: Magomedsharipov vs. Kattar on November 9, 2019. He lost the fight via third-round submission and only returned to winning tracks after a couple of fights in the promotion.
