UFC Fight Night: Namajunas v Cortez Weigh-in
Santiago Ponzinibbio

Considered one of the true veterans of the sport, Santiago Ponzinibbio has been a contender in the Ultimate Fighting Championship for more than a decade now. Starting his professional career in 2008, Ponzinibbio currently holds an impeccable record of 29 wins and 8 losses in mixed martial arts so far. The majority of his wins are via knockout(16), decision(7), and submission(6), respectively. Unlike most UFC fighters, Santiago Ponzinnibio did not have to go through Dana White’s Contender Series, to find himself a contract in the promotion. He made his way into the Ultimate Fighting Championship with a stunning record of 18 wins and only 1 loss in 2013. However, his promotional debut caused another loss in his record. He faced Ryan LaFlare at UFC Fight Night: Belfort vs. Henderson 2 in Goiania, Brazil on November 9, 2013. Ponzinibbio lost to LaFlare via a unanimous decision by the judge’s scorecard after the three-rounder.

However, Santiago Ponzinibbio bounced back from his loss in the next one against Wendell Oliveira via a first-round knockout. And for his third fight inside the octagon, Ponzinibbio faced the former UFC middleweight champion, Sean Strickland, in February 2015 and won the bout via a unanimous decision. To sum up, even though Ponzinibbio has suffered a few defeats in his professional career, that does not make him any less of a great fighter.
