The Ultimate Fighting Championship came to Florida with its high-octane pay-per-view event, the UFC 299. The event was held at Kesaya Center in Miami, Florida, USA, on March 9, 2024. It was power-packed with fights across the divisions, and Sean O’Malley and Marlon Vera headlined the event in a bantamweight title showdown. In this championship bout, O'Malley won the fight conclusively via a unanimous decision.
Sean O’Malley is an exciting professional mixed martial artist who is active on the UFC’s roster and competes in the bantamweight division of the promotion. He made his professional mixed martial arts debut on March 6, 2015, against Josh Reyes. O’Malley made quick work of Reyes and knocked him out in the first round to secure a win and kick off his career with a victory.
After his debut, Sean O’Malley didn’t take much to compete in a UFC pay-per-view event after defeating Terrion Ware at The Ultimate Fighter: A New World Champion Finale. At UFC 222 he faced Andre Soukhamthath and won the bout via a unanimous decision. He positioned himself as a reckoning force in the promotion’s division and got a title shot against the former UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling.
Sean O’Malley and Aljamain Sterling squared off against each other at UFC 292 on August 19, 2023. Having a reputation for his knock-out prowess, O’Malley shut Sterling’s lights off in the first round and won the championship via second-round TKO.
