Sergei Pavlovich

The Russian-born mixed martial artist Sergei Pavlovich is recognized as the No. 3 ranked heavyweight contender in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Within his five years of competency and over six fights, Pavlovich has only lost once in and out of the promotion.

Like most Russian fighters, Sergei Pavlovich started off with wrestling training at a young age and later learned combat sambo. Moreover, he is considered to be one of the mixed martial artists to have an ape factor. Even though there are not many pieces of information available about Pavlovich’s amateur fighting career, there are faultless particulars regarding his professional MMA career.

Sergei Pavlovich made his professional debut at Fight Nights Global in December 2014 and won the bout via a first-round TKO. Adding on, after attaining a ten-fight undefeated win streak in the promotion, he was given a shot at the heavyweight title. Pavlovich faced Mikhail Mokhnatkin on June 2, 2017, and won the bout via a unanimous decision. Before exiting Fight Nights Global, he successfully defended the title once in November 2017 against a fighter called Kirill Sidelnikov via a first-round TKO.

However, Pavlovich’s record standings took a backlash for his octagon debut in 2018. For his first appearance, Sergei Pavlovich faced Alistair Overeem at UFC Fight Night: Blaydes vs. Ngannou 2 in Beijing, China, and lost the bout via TKO at 4:21 in the first round.

Pavlovich rose above his adversities through his performances in the later fights and maintained a six-fight win streak before it was snapped by Tom Aspinall at UFC 295. Over the years, the Russian fighter has faced prominent heavyweights in the promotion like Tai Tuivasa, Curtis Blaydes, Derrick Lewis, etc. and he has muddled through each of his opponents.

Sergei Pavlovich's Record
