Stipe Miocic was born on August 19, 1982, in Euclid, Ohio, and is widely considered one of the most accomplished heavyweights in UFC history. A former collegiate wrestler and Golden Gloves winner in boxing, Miocic brings together wrestling, heavy-hitting ability, and great resiliency. Having set the record with three consecutive UFC heavyweight title defenses, he has bested highly reputed heavyweights like Junior dos Santos, Francis Ngannou, and Daniel Cormier.

Miocic won the heavyweight crown with a knockout against Fabricio Werdum in May 2016 and then defended the title against some top-level contenders. When he briefly lost it to Cormier in 2018, he reclaimed the title in their rematch at UFC 241. Finally, his trilogy against Cormier ended with a unanimous decision win in 2020, cementing Miocic as the most successful champion the division has seen. However, Miocic lost the title to Francis Ngannou in their rematch in March 2021 and has not been back inside the octagon since. Now at 42, Miocic readies himself for his comeback at UFC 309, challenging against Jon “Bones” Jones on November 16, 2024, for the heavyweight crown at Madison Square Garden, New York. The fight also provides Miocic with the opportunity to become a three-time UFC heavyweight champion.
