Superlek lists his advantages over Rodtang

Ahead of ONE Fight Night 8, Superlek vowed to prove who the real kickboxing king is by listing some of the advantages he has against fellow Thai superstar Rodtang Jitmuangnon.

Long-time friends, Superlek Kiatmoo9 and Rodtang are set to lock horns this Friday, March 24, at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in a kickboxing scrum for the world title.

‘The Iron Man’ came up first in the rankings following a dominant decision-win over Jiduo Yibu in December, while ‘The Kicking Machine’ Superlek Kiatmoo9, claimed the ONE vacant flyweight kickboxing world title after defeating Spanish sensation Daniel Puertas that same night.

With both men statistically similar in terms of experience and numbers, Superlek believes he’s got a couple of advantages over his fellow countryman which Rodtang might underestimate.

Speaking exclusively to Sportskeeda MMA, the Pattaya native explained:

“I believe my kicks are better than his in kickboxing. First, I’m a little taller than him. Second, I think my leg movement is better than his in terms of speed. Every fighter has their own footwork.”

Superlek has only one loss on his kickboxing record at ONE Championship, all thanks to Moroccan striker Ilias Ennahachi, who recently vacated the belt earlier this year due to his inability to make weight at 135 pounds.

Much like that previous world title fight, the Thai superstar expects his kicks will be the best weapon of choice to bring down ‘The Iron Man.’ When the former Lumpinee champion pushed the pace with his kicks in the championship rounds, he accrued a lot of damage against his Moroccan rival. However, the punching combinations that Ennachachi landed at the beginning were enough to score points in the eyes of the judges.

If the divisional king doesn’t set the pace early against Rodtang, he’s in for a tough time. As fans know, ‘The Iron Man’ thrives under pressure and kicks alone aren’t going to be enough to stop him.
