Nothing will stop Tammi Musumeci or her brother Mikey Musumeci from training jiu-jitsu even when all the gyms are closed during a major outbreak.

If you haven’t noticed yet, the Musumeci siblings aren’t your average jiu-jitsu athletes. They’ve dedicated their entire lives to perfecting their craft, and although life sometimes gets in the way, they are always able to train.

In Tammi’s case, she’s always ready to go even after having a long and heavy work-day as a full-time lawyer. Difficult as it is to juggle both worlds, she always manages to pull through for the sport that she loves with the help of her brother.

Speaking to ONE Championship recently, Tammi Musumeci revealed how often she trains when she’s preparing for major grappling matches, such as the one happening this Friday at ONE Fight Night 8.

“I try to train depending on how many people I can get to train with me. I train five to six times a week. I'm training a lot, we have our garage. During COVID, all the gyms closed down, so Mikey and I started training in the garage, just the two of us. Every day we would train.”

Tammi Musumeci is excited to put on a show and showcase exactly what all the hype is about. The American sensation is fresh off her fifth IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu World Championship last year, booting out four other women in the competition for gold. Hoping to keep the winning streak going, Tammi is looking forward to getting her first submission finish under the ONE banner.

ONE Fight Night 8 will be broadcast live and for free to American audiences with an Amazon Prime Video subscription.

Tammi Musumeci admits she could never train jiu-jitsu full-time

Although Tammi Musumeci is excited by the opportunity to perform on a global stage, she admitted that she won’t be able to pursue the combat sport full-time. Unlike her brother Mikey Musumeci, Tammi has other goals in mind that she’d like to realize instead.

In the same interview, the 29-year-old candidly said:

“I could never train full-time, even if I had the option. I would just never do it. I also have goals outside of jiu-jitsu in my professional life that I want to reach. I just don’t ever put that as an option for myself to do.”

However short her time with ONE Championship might be, perhaps the elite level of competitiveness at ONE will be enough to make her change her mind. Especially when you have a tough competitor like Bianca Basilio, threatening to find a submission against you on the world stage.
