‘JT’ Janet Todd thanked female trailblazers Miriam Nakamoto and Tiffany van Soest for paving the way for women to have careers in combat sports.

The two-sport world champion is headed towards the biggest world title match of her career this Friday at ONE Fight Night 8 on Prime Video. Just a few days shy of returning to the ring, Todd took the time to credit all the women fighters who inspired her to take the leap and make a career out of Muay Thai.

Speaking to ONE Championship, ‘JT’ said:

“Tiffany van Soest. There's Miriam Nakamoto that actually put American Muay Thai on the map for us and really led the way for Tiffany and me and Jackie. So, yeah, those are just a bunch. Gina Carano too. There's a bunch of women that have really helped us get to the world stage today. I'm thankful for them to preset the path for us.”

With more than three years in the making, Janet Todd will finally square off against Allycia Hellen Rodrigues for the unification of the ONE atomweight Muay Thai world title.

The American star returns to the foray confident and more empowered than before after defeating WBC Muay Thai World Champion Lara ‘Pizza Power’ Fernandes for the interim belt last year. All set to go, Todd is thrilled to go back to work and realize her dreams.

Watch ONE Fight Night 8 will be broadcast live and for free via Amazon Prime Video.

Allycia Hellen Rodrigues believes she can deal with Janet Todd’s fast-paced pressure

Divisional queen Allycia Hellen Rodrigues believes she can deal with a high-level striker like Janet Todd.

The Brazilian standout has a proven track record of defeating high-level competition in both Brazil and Thailand before she joined ONE Championship. Feeling anxious to get back into the circle after a two-year break, Rodrigues has only one thing on her mind: to find the knockout.

Having had months to prepare for Todd after the birth of her son, Rodrigues is feeling confident that Todd has never faced someone like her.

Speaking to ONE Championship, she said:

“Janet is a dangerous fighter. She has good punches and kicks and is very fast. I think she’s a great striker, but I’m used to that kind of pressure. We’re going to fight Muay Thai, and here in Thailand we clinch a lot every day. That’s something I’m definitely going to take advantage of over her”
