Joe Rogan's comments about a firefighter's near-accurate prophecy in mid-2024 about potentially deadly Los Angeles fires have now resurfaced and gained considerable attention. Many observers have particularly questioned the U.S. federal and state governments' alleged lack of preparedness over containing the fires, which are still raging.
According to the California government's official website, Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency in California owing to the L.A. wildfires. The fires first came to the fore on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025. Per CBS News, high winds have been fueling multiple wildfires that have ravaged the metropolis, scorching around 45 square miles.
It includes the Palisades Fire in western L.A., the Eaton Fire in the northeast, and the northern outskirts' Hurst Fire and Woodley Fire. Per the Los Angeles Times, around 130,000 residents face evacuation orders. Viewed as one of the worst firestorms in L.A.'s history, it's reportedly killed five people and consumed over 2,000 structures.

On episode #2178 of the Joe Rogan Experience podcast on July 19, 2024, Rogan hosted fellow American comedian Sam Morril. Rogan, who moved from California to Texas a few years ago, alluded to having resided in the Los Angeles area of California.
The MMA personality suggested he was anxious about L.A.'s apparent vulnerability to calamities like earthquakes and wildfires, which encouraged his move to Texas. Rogan recalled the overcrowding in L.A. and the scary wildfires, which affected him and his family, having to evacuate their home thrice. He also recounted a conversation he once had with a firefighter:
"I talked to a fireman once. This is one of the reasons it freaked me out. And he was telling me, he goes, 'Dude, one day.' He goes, 'It's just going to be the right wind, and fire is going to start in the right place, and it's going to burn through L.A. all the way to the ocean. And there's not a f**king thing we can do about it.' I go, 'Really?' He goes, 'Yeah. We're just -- we just get lucky.'"
Rogan highlighted being told, they get "lucky with the wind" because if the wind blows a certain way and aids a wildfire(s), a considerable portion of the city would go up in flames. He warned it'd spread through embers falling on houses, bushes, and more:
"And once it happens, it happens in a way where it's so spread out that there's nothing they can do. There's nothing... Nothing they can do."

Joe Rogan recently discussed California wildfires on the JRE podcast
On JRE's episode 2240 on Dec. 10, 2024, Joe Rogan hosted filmmakers Quentin Tarantino and Roger Avary. Akin to many other professionals working in Hollywood, the trio recounted their experiences from time spent in L.A., California. They discussed the dangers of California wildfires, and the UFC commentator notably narrated a similar firefighter story.
Rogan revisited a conversation with a fire department member while filming for the 'Fear Factor' reality show. Rogan recalled being warned that the right combination of winds and wildfires could particularly devastate L.A.:
"We're not going to be able to stop it. It's just going to burn right through to the ocean"
