American mixed martial artist Anthony Armand Ferguson Padilla was born on February 12, 1984. He currently competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship's Lightweight division. He once held the title of interim lightweight champion in the UFC.
Since he won “The Ultimate Fighter 13” in 2011, Ferguson, who made his MMA debut in 2008, has been affiliated with the UFC. He has training in Wing Chun, Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, freestyle wrestling, and boxing. Ferguson made his UFC debut against Ramsey Nijem in the “Ultimate Fighter 13” Finale. Ferguson knocked out Nijem in the opening round and received a UFC contract. In addition, he received the Knockout of the Night bonus.
Ferguson returned to the lightweight division after his debut, taking on Aaron Riley at UFC 135 on September 24, 2011. Riley claimed to have a broken jaw, prompting the referee to stop the fight after the first round, giving Ferguson the TKO victory. On September 10, 2022, Ferguson was slated to fight Li Jingliang in the co-main event of UFC 279 to make his return to the welterweight division. However, Ferguson faced Nate Diaz, and in the fourth round, Ferguson was submitted by guillotine choke, ending the fight.
'El Cucuy' made a comeback to the lightweight division, taking on Bobby Green at UFC 291 on July 29, 2023. Unfortunately, he suffered a defeat in the final moments of the third round, succumbing to a technical submission via an arm-triangle choke.
