UFC 218 delivered a dazzling night of fights—violence personified from top to bottom.
Max Holloway cemented his place as the world’s best Featherweight, dismantling Jose Aldo in a similar fashion to their first fight. Besides, Francis Ngannou scored a scary knockout win over legendary Heavyweight Alistair Overeem. Fans and pundits were worried initially as Overeem was unconscious for quite some time and not responding. Nevertheless, ‘The Reem’ seems to be alright.
Additionally, Alvarez vs. Gaethje was an excellent showing, as was Medeiros vs. Oliveira. UFC 218 was perhaps one of 2017’s best fight cards. So, without further ado, here are the results for UFC 218: Holloway vs. Aldo 2—

#Main Card
#1 Max Holloway vs. Jose Aldo
Max Holloway’s rematch with Jose Aldo went down somewhat similar to their first encounter.
Nevertheless, Aldo used more leg kicks than the last time around, but his stubbornness of standing in the phone booth with the younger, more durable fighter, perhaps contributed the most to his undoing in this UFC Featherweight Championship matchup. Holloway ripped several slick punches to Aldo’s body in the first two rounds; capping off a dominant performance with a vicious assault in Round 3. Holloway had the better cardio and distance management; leading to him walking away with the UFC title yet again.
Result: Max Holloway def. Jose Aldo via TKO (Punches) (Round 3, 4:51)
#2 Francis Ngannou vs. Alistair Overeem
Francis Ngannou obliterated Overeem in truly fearsome fashion.
The Reem seemed badly hurt way after the fight was called off, and he’s got Ngannou’s punching power and precision to thank for that. Ngannou versus Stipe Miocic for the UFC Heavyweight Championship seems to be next.
The fight didn’t last too long, but Ngannou’s fleet-footedness was most definitely visible early and often before he landed an uppercut which felled Overeem like a tree.
Result: Francis Ngannou def. Alistair Overeem via KO (Punch) (Round 1, 1:42)
#3 Henry Cejudo vs. Sergio Pettis
Cejudo controlled the pace of this matchup and won a clear-cut decision for his efforts.
Cejudo appeared to have Pettis’ timing down, not only on the feet but also in the grappling department as well. Cejudo struck first and hit hard; keeping Pettis at bay throughout; impressing the judges enough to walk away the victor.
Result: Henry Cejudo def. Sergio Pettis via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
#4 Eddie Alvarez vs. Justin Gaethje
Alvarez and Gaethje delivered on their promise to bring the fight to one another.
Although Gaethje had tremendous success with leg kicks throughout the fight, Alvarez showed excellent composure and striking defence. He went to Gaethje’s body consistently, sapping the latter of his power and cardio.
Alvarez seemed to be on his way to victory, however, chose to go for the kill with a tremendous knee strike right on the button, and follow-up punches to seal the deal.
Result: Eddie Alvarez def. Justin Gaethje via TKO (Knee & Punches) (Round 3, 3:59)
#5 Tecia Torres vs. Michelle Waterson
Michelle Waterson is undersized for this division, and on fight night, it showed.
Torres seemed to get off her strikes a second before Waterson would in almost every exchange. She caught Waterson with a few excellent right hands over the top, but lacked the power to finish ‘The Karate Hottie’.
Furthermore, Torres doled out some vicious punishment on Waterson toward the end of this matchup, but the latter survived nonetheless. Torres was awarded the decision in the end,
Result: Tecia Torres def. Michelle Waterson via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28)
Preliminary Card (FOX Sports 1)
#1 Paul Felder vs. Charles Oliveira
Charles ‘Do Bronx’ Oliveira almost had this one in the bag, if not for Felder’s veteran calm and composure during the grappling exchanges.
Oliveira went from almost finishing this fight by way of submission to getting elbowed into oblivion. Felder landed a hellacious elbow on Oliveira and proceeded to pound him into unconsciousness.
Result: Paul Felder def. Charles Oliveira via TKO (Elbows) (Round 2, 4:06)
#2 Yancy Medeiros vs. Alex Oliveira
One of the best fights of all time, Medeiros pulled off a real-life Rocky performance as he came out despite being almost finished on multiple occasions; in order to finish the ever-dangerous KO artist Alex Oliveira.
Oliveira struck early and often; putting Medeiros on roller-skates throughout. Nevertheless, this back-and-forth affair saw Medeiros claw back at his Brazilian foe.
The fight reached a final crescendo when a bloody Medeiros pulled off a comeback for the ages by decimating Oliveira with a barrage of punches.
Result: Yancy Medeiros def. Alex Oliveira via TKO (Punches) (Round 3, 2:02)
#3 David Teymur vs. Drakkar Klose
This fight was somewhat the opposite of Medeiros/Oliveira; as neither Teymur nor Klose engaged in much ‘fighting’, so to speak.
Teymur kept his distance from Klose; keeping the latter, who is a wily grappler, at bay. Referee Herb Dean intervened and urged both fighters to engage more, but to no avail.
Teymur comfortably out-pointed Klose, before being given the decision victory by the judges.
Result: David Teymur def. Drakkar Klose via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)
#4 Felice Herrig vs. Courtney Casey
Felice Herrig showcased her vastly improved striking game in this matchup, as she landed often and precise on Casey.
Herrig seemed poised to likely finish this fight but lacked power in her strikes to do that. Casey, on the other hand, seemed to have no defence whatsoever.
With Herrig constantly landing, and Casey doing nothing much, the judges awarded the decision victory to Herrig.
Result: Felice Herrig def. Courtney Casey via Split Decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28)
Preliminary Card (UFC Fight Pass)
#1 Amanda Cooper vs. Angela Magana
Amanda Cooper absolutely demolished Angela Magana.
Magana had no answer to Cooper’s striking and failed to intelligently defend herself in the face of Cooper’s vicious ground-and-pound attack. Additionally, one ought to note that Cooper also exhibited improved grappling as well in this matchup against Magana.
Furthermore, Cooper self-admittedly has revealed that she’s been actively working on her aforementioned Achilles Heel, ergo her grappling skills; and her transitions against Magana served to further accentuate the visible improvements she’s been making in the same.
Result: Amanda Cooper def. Angela Magana via TKO (Punches) (Round 2, 4:34)
#2 Abdul Razak Alhassan vs. Sabah Homasi
Alhassan and Homasi engaged in a highly entertaining matchup which unfortunately ended as the referee stopped the fight before Homasi had a fair chance to defend himself and comeback.
Alhassan caught Homasi with a great punch and followed up, however, Homasi seemingly got his bearings immediately and went for a takedown. Nevertheless, the referee called off the fight, awarding Alhassan the TKO win.
Result: Abdul Razak Alhassan def. Sabah Homasi via TKO (Punches) (Round 1, 4:21)
#3 Dominick Reyes vs. Jeremy Kimball
Reyes proved to be too much for Kimball, and although most experts predicted him to knock the latter out, this fight indeed ended via submission.
Reyes dominated Kimball for the entire duration of the fight and transitioned to his back. From there it wasn’t long until Reyes locked in the Rear-Naked Choke for the submission victory.
Result: Dominick Reyes def. Jeremy Kimball via Submission (Rear Naked Choke) (Round 1, 3:39)
#4 Justin Willis vs. Allen Crowder
Allen Crowder’s rudimentary striking skills showed in this unfortunate striking mismatch.
Willis landed at will on Crowder, before making a statement with a huge KO win courtesy a bone-shattering one-hitter-quitter.
