Sergio Pettis and Jussier Formiga are both contenders for the Flyweight Championship and this encounter will go a long way to securing a future title bout for whoever wins here.

Following the likely rematch between new Flyweight Champion, Henry Cejudo and long-reigning former Champion, Demetrius Johnson, Pettis or Formiga could well be next in line.

Pettis won a tight split decision over Joseph Benavidez at UFC 225 to put himself back in the win column following his loss to Cejudo.

Accomplished wrestler, Formiga has been victorious in his past two bouts and will be confident of making that three in a row at UFC 229.
