Elias Theodorou is finally making a return to the Octagon after his victory at UFC 231, and it is in a big way in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 151: Iaquinta vs Cerrone.
He will be taking on Derek Brunson to attempt to continue his three-fight win streak.
I was able to catch up to Elias Theodorou before his next UFC fight and pose a few questions before him.
Catch UFC Fight Night 151 in Ottawa live on Sony Ten 2 and Sony Ten 2 HD at 5:30 AM on the 5th of May.

Q. Your last three fights have seen you win impressively with decisions. What’s your preparation like heading into a fight with someone with as much as skill as Derek Brunson?
ET: I’ve just kept focusing on me. That’s when I’m most successful. This is my 11th fight in the UFC and 20th overall, I’m also a veteran at this point. Once I get my hand raised, we’ll have the same amount of victories but he’ll just have more defeats—albeit by very tough fighters. I’ve fought a lot of tough fighters, as well.
Hell, I went to a decision with Thiago Santos. I’d even argue the fight I had with Brad Tavares could have gone either way. I’m just looking to get my hand raised again.
Q. You’re starring in upcoming comedy film: Last Hit. What has the experience been like for you?
ET: We’re still in the process of funding it, but the script is set. We have a great director and cast. Beyond that, after this fight I’ll be doing a movie called Red Door and Lemon Tree. I’ll be playing King Minos, first king of Crete. After I get my hand raised, I’ll be running off to Crete to film.
Q. Are there any fighters you’d like to face in particular in the next year on UFC?
ET: One interesting person is Jack Hermansson, because he called me out pretty recently. Obviously, he just picked up two huge wins recently. He’s had great, gritty performances and has leap-frogged the rankings. He called me out and I’m down to oblige.
