Former featherweight champion Max Holloway is set to go up against the No. 4 ranked featherweight contender in the UFC, Arnold Allen. The two will headline the UFC's Kansas City 2023 card on April 15.

Allen (19-1) is one of the most promising prospects in the UFC as of now. Hailing from Ipswich, a county in eastern England, Allen has had an impressive run since joining the UFC back in 2015 and has been undefeated in his 10 fights in the promotion.

Arnold Allen has earned some notable wins in his career so far against the likes of Calvin Kattar, Dan Hooker, and MMA veteran Gilbert Melendez, however, he is yet to face somebody like Max Holloway. 'Blessed' is set to be Allen's toughest test of his career so far and with a potential win over 'Blessed', 'Almighty' will most certainly find himself in title contention.

UFC Kansas City 2023: Arnold Allen speaks about fighting Max Holloway

Following Arnold Allen's win over Calvin Kattar back in October last year, there was a lot of speculation surrounding a potential interim championship bout for 'Almighty'.

However, the UFC ended up making an interim featherweight championship bout between Yair Rodriguez and Josh Emmett, and Allen was pitted for a fight against Holloway.

Going into the fight, Allen has revealed that he views a fight against Holloway as a better option than fighting for the interim UFC featherweight championship. Speaking about this during an interview with Morning Kombat, 'Almighty' said:

"The only thing that would be better than not getting an interim fight would be to fight Max Holloway and beat Max Holloway. Obviously Max beat Yair in the last one, so he for me is a more credible spot than beating Emmett or Yair."

Further in the interview, Arnold Allen spoke about the impact of the cumulative damage endured by Holloway. While suggesting that the damage endured by 'Blessed' has got to add up, the No.4 ranked featherweight stated:

“He [ Max Holloway] is great. His mileage is going to catch up. It doesn’t matter how old you are. If you have 20 fights, when every fight is a back-and-forth, 50-50 war... Even when he’s been very dominant, he’s taken a lot of shots. The miles have got to add up."
