Esparza had the upper hand for most of the night

The co-main event fight saw Carla Esparza and Alexa Grasso take each other on. It was a fight about wrestling taking on striking.

For the entirety of the first two rounds, Carla Esparza somehow managed to keep the upper hand. She landed shot after vicious shot, although she did find herself in trouble on more than one occasion. At the end of the 1st round, Esparza was able to escape an attempt where Alexa Grasso almost took her back, swung around and landed a 1-2 of her own, and finally a hard right to end the first round of the fight.

The second round saw Esparza having to deal with submission attempts from her opponent, and they spent most of the round on the ground. However, despite multiple attempts, Esparza was able to keep up her guard and it allowed her to get in shots when and where it counted.

The two went at each other fiercely at the end of the second round, with Esparza trying to escape an armbar.

Finally, in the third round, Grasso found her game and was able to dominate Esparza. Grasso managed to finish strong landing strong blows after Esparza was able to escape an armbar despite strong torque as well as a Triangle.

In the end, Esparza won, much to the vocal displeasure of the UFC Mexico crowd, who let their unhappiness be known.
