UFC Mexico Results: Crowd pelts the Octagon with bottles after main event called off, local favorite loses

Unfortunately, the main event could not take place

The main event saw an unfortunate start as Rodriguez caught Stephens with a poke to the eye. The referee stopped the fight while they got a few minutes to regain their composure.

The eye appeared to be damaged, with the doctor coming in to take a look to see if Stephens would be able to continue or not. He could not open his eye, so Herb Dean said that he would give him some time to see if he could open it, or he would cancel the fight altogether.

Unfortunately, it was the worst possible outcome in the main event of the fight.

Herb Dean had to call the fight. Despite Stephens being a warrior of the biggest kind, there was nothing for it in the end. Herb Dean called the fight at the end of five minutes when he found out that Jeremy Stephens could not open his eye to continue the fight.

Everyone was disappointed with the crowd deafening the arena with boos at the unfortunate end to an entertaining card, with bottles flying in.

UFC Mexico Results: No Contest

If there's any fight that begs for a rematch down the line, it is definitely this one.
