FOX News reported that Ibrahim Yazeed told a witness that he shot Blanchard because she "went for the gun". Yazeed is facing a second capital murder charge as well.

An unnamed subject saw Yazeed in a Montgomery home wearing only shorts. Yazeed had a gun in the shorts and the subject said that while he had not seen Blanchard, Yazeed had Blanchard's vehicle and that he admitted to shooting a girl.

In court, Yazeed stated that there was no evidence other than hearsay being brought against him.
