Welterweight contenders Jake Ellenberger and Jorge Masvidal faced off in the fourth fight on the main card, at the TUF Finale in Las Vegas, in a fight that ended in a weird fashion in the first round.
Ellenberger’s right toe seemed to have got caught in the cage midway through the first round, resulting in Masvidal storming on his opponent with huge strikes leading to a stoppage and a victory for the latter via TKO.
Post the fight; Ellenberger claims he was confused by the bizarre incident as he felt the fight would restart, once he got his toe out of the cage. However, it was not to be, as Masvidal walked away with a first-round stoppage.

Ellenberger now plans to appeal the loss to the UFC in an attempt to change the result to a no contest, as he states he is still confused with the outcome of the fight. He explained his confusion in a post-fight interview on Fox Sports 1.
“It was very bizarre. My foot got caught in the fence, and I assumed [the fight] would be restarted – at least that’s how I understood it. I could defend myself because my mind was clear and I assumed he would restart it. But then they told me it was over, so I have no idea.”
“We keep moving forward; that’s all we can do,” he added.
“[We will] appeal and hopefully, it gets turned into a no contest.”
As Ellenberger plans to appeal the decision, Demetrious Johnson retained his Flyweight title as he fought hard to put away TUF winner, Tim Elliot via unanimous decision, in what was the main event of the night in Las Vegas.
