UFC News: Jon Jones responds to Dana White's recent comments

Not the greatest fighter anymore.

Jon Jones has been suspended for failing the out-of-competition drug test. Now UFC President, Dana White has stated that the former pound for pound king, would never headline any event until he proves that he can come out clean.

The former light-heavyweight kingpin tweeted his response:

If Jones appears as though he may be taking the UFC for granted, it is because he has headlined events even after showcasing unprofessionalism outside the Octagon.

White was also upset because he failed to show up for multiple UFC events, which Jones was supposed to headline and defend his title in. He was scheduled to square off against Daniel Cormier in a title unification bout at UFC 200, but Jones was pulled off the card as he tested positive for two banned substances.

Before this, he was also involved in a hit-and-run case due to which he was stripped of his light-heavyweight title. As a result, Daniel Cormier fought Anthony Johnson to win the vacant UFC title at UFC 187.

Later, Jones was scheduled to fight fellow UFC light-heavyweight fighter, Ovince St-Preux, for the Interim UFC Light-heavyweight Championship at UFC 197. Jones successfully outworked his opponent to win his second belt.

Now according to White, Jones won’t even be a main eventer even if he is scheduled for a title fight. The UFC has realised the necessity to punish their superstars for crossing the line multiple times.

As Jones has been booted out from the UFC rankings, DC will face Johnson in a rematch at UFC 206 in Canada, for the UFC light-heavyweight strap.
