UFC Lightweight champion Conor McGregor is sitting atop the mixed martial arts (MMA) world right now, and has expressed interest in attempting to take over the boxing world as well with rumors circulating of a possible matchup between him and Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather.
Before McGregor does that, however, boxing legend and Canelo Alvarez’s manager Oscar De La Hoya says (courtesy of LowKickMMA) ‘The Notorious One’ might have to go through his client for the king of boxing title first:
“If Conor is serious about fighting – first of all, would love to talk to him, and promote him. I mean, imagine Conor McGregor and Golden Boy coming together. But the only fight I would like to see, and this is the one that makes the most sense, it would be the most exciting, that would be a guaranteed knockout, is against Canelo Alvarez. And they’re in the same weight class. So it makes all the sense in the world. Imagine. 154. 160. It would be at 160 actually.”

A matchup between McGregor and Canelo would certainly be an entertaining one, as both men’s success in their respective sports have been due in large part to the ridiculous power that they posses.
With each man looking similar in size and typically fighting around the same weight, a fantasy matchup between the two mega stars is certainly not outside of the realm of possibilities.
Neither man currently has a match booked, and with McGregor showing interest in getting into the boxing game, who better to welcome him into it than the young Mexican star who currently sits atop the sport as its biggest figure head at the moment?
Is this a super fight you’d pay to see?
