UFC News: Robber receives more than he bargained for trying to rob UFC Star

What's the story?

Robbing people as a career option is not really the most secure path for a person to take. People who choose that as an option are aware that they are putting themselves in danger. They should be able to pick their victims properly, and even if they can't, they should at least avoid professional fighters.

Polyana Viana is not a UFC star who takes things too lightly. In fact, like most people, she was offended when someone tried to rob her. The robber, in the end, got way more than he bargained for.

With a record of 10-2, she knows what she's doing when it comes to fighting or defending herself. Recently having made her debut in the UFC, with two fights under her belt, she has all the possibilities in the world in front of her.

That is if robbers will leave her alone for long enough to let her.

The heart of the matter

Polyana Viana was waiting for her Uber in front of her apartment complex in Brazil's Rio de Janeiro. There she was accosted by a man who was asking her for the time. He did not leave when told the time, however, and then went on to threaten her with an apparent gun, asking her to turn her phone over to him.

Viana noticed that what he was calling a gun was most probably not one, and her instincts kicked in -- quite literally. She punched him twice and kicked him once, before locking him in a Rear Naked Choke, not giving him an opportunity to use his weapon. The man reportedly begged to be let go, but Viana was not one to allow him the opportunity, and so the man begged to at least be given up to the police.

When the police arrived, called by passers-by, she found out that it had been a cardboard gun all along. Thanks to News18 for the heads up.

Suffice it to say, this should be a lesson to anyone thinking about robbing someone. Think twice, you never know when the person you're robbing could render you unable to move.
