It is common knowledge that former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey needs to get emotional going into her bouts, and with her matchup with Amanda Nunes on the horizon, she’s taken aim at UFC lightweight champ Conor McGregor and boxing legend Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather.
McGregor and Mayweather have been neck and neck with one another over a potential boxing match that has been creating the buzz throughout the combat sports world, but Rousey isn’t too pleased with the ‘money men’ persona that the two flaunt and was quoted as saying the following: (courtesy of MMA Fighting):
“If money is the motivation, then f*ck you. All these ‘Money’ people. ‘Money’ [Floyd] Mayweather, ‘Money’ [Conor] McGregor. I see they’re trying to do an angle or whatever. People buy it.
The worship of money in our society is so deep. But just because that’s the easiest way to keep people’s attention or entertain them doesn’t mean that’s the right way.”

Rousey went on to thank McGregor and added to her point by saying:
“Conor gave me the chance to rest, he took the weight off my shoulders, and I’m grateful. I will never put my body at risk for money and views ever again. What makes me happy is winning and being the best in the world and that’s it.
F*ck all the promotion and energy spent on anything that’s not me winning. And anyone who tries to tell me I owe them energy on frivolous sh*t during camp out of ‘loyalty’ or ‘friendship’ deserves no loyalty from me and is no friend of mine.”
Rousey is coming off of her first career mixed martial arts (MMA) loss to Holly Holm at UFC 193 in Melbourne, Australia November of last year, in which Holm delivered a head kick that had knocked Rousey out.
