UFC Fight Night: Vinc Pichel v Joaquim Silva

What's the story?

It's not every day that the fans get to see a 'Dead Man Walking'. After all, this is UFC, and not WWE that Undertaker will be an intimidating presence. However, on the Preliminary card of UFC on Fox 31, that's exactly what people would see when Joaquim Silva took on Jared Gordon.

Joaquim Silva won his fight in a big way after three amazing rounds by these two warriors.

In case you didn't know...

Joaquim Silva came into the fight after the first-ever defeat in his career, where he was defeated by Vinc Pichel in January of 2018. It is always difficult for a fighter after he loses for the very first time. Silva reacted to his defeat in a positive manner, taking it as a life lesson. He needed to set the record straight when he came into UFC on Fox 31, and that's exactly what he achieved when he took on Jared Gordon.

Gordon was coming off a defeat as well, but unfortunately for him, this fight saw his record go to 2-2 in the UFC instead of the 3-1 he had been hoping for when he came into the fight.

The heart of the matter

Joaquim Silva hit Jared Gordon with everything in his arsenal, and considering the size and quality of Silva's arsenal, that's a lot.

Gordon showed his chin, not showing for even a second like he was going to go down. Even when he was knocked out in the third round, Gordon remained in his feet despite his lights getting knocked out completely.

There are not too many fighters who are able to do what Silva did in the Octagon, and Gordon displayed his own heart, but the referee had to step in to make sure that Gordon was not injured.

What's next?

Jared Gordon could be badly injured after that fight, and it will have to be something that the doctors will take a look at.

As for Silva, he will be looking to add more wins to his favour so as to find a favourable rank.
