Valentina Shevchenko is one of the most accomplished fighters in UFC history and is considered by many one of the best female mixed martial artists to have ever competed. Born on March 7, 1988, in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, Shevchenko is a former UFC Women's Flyweight Champion who as of September 13, 2024, holds a record of 23-4-1. Before going pro in MMA, she trained in Muay Thai, winning numerous prestigious world titles.
Shevchenko first made her name known in the flyweight division of the UFC on December 19, 2015. She won the vacant UFC Flyweight Championship in 2018 over Joanna Jędrzejczyk and then went on to successfully defend her title seven times, racking up victories over elite-level fighters such as Jessica Andrade, Katlyn Chookagian, and Lauren Murphy. Known for technical striking and a well-rounded game, she has eight wins by knockout and seven by submission. In 2023, Shevchenko lost her title to Alexa Grasso on via submission in UFC 285. However, their rematch at Noche UFC in September 2023 ended in a split draw, which meant that Grasso retained her title. The duo will be squaring off once again at Noche UFC 306 on September 14, 2024.
