He dispatched Pantin in the second round to win the fight with a second-round knockout and thus start his career with a dominant win. After an impressive showing in his debut showdown, Acosta amassed a record of 6 wins and 0 losses before appearing at Dana White’s Contender Series: Season 6, Week 2, and facing Danilo Suzart. He defeated Suzart by a first-round knockout and earned a contract with the leading professional mixed martial arts promotion.

In his promotional debut, Waldo Cortes Acosta locked horns with Jared Vanderaa on October 20, 2022, at UFC Fight Night: Kattar vs. Allen. Vanderaa was outclassed by Acosta by a unanimous decision to win the fight and continue his winning run.
