He won the bout by submitting Alexandre Jr. to a guillotine choke in the third round of the fight.

He squared off against Nicolas Dalby in his showdown at UFC 283, on January 21, 2023, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Alves and Dalby fought in a closely contested fight for three rounds and it was decided on the Judge’s scorecard. Nicolas Dalby was declared the winner by a split decision.
