Two-sport world champion ‘JT’ Janet Todd was seen in rare footage training for her next world title bout this week.

The American veteran looked sharp and focused as she drilled Muay Thai kicks with her long-time training partner and friend, MMA atomweight contender Jackie Buntan. Since ‘JT’ is not much of an Instagram user, Buntan did fans a big favor in releasing the most recent footage of Todd preparing for her upcoming war against ONE atomweight Muay Thai world champion Allycia Hellen Rodgrigues.

Sharing the clip on Instagram, Buntan wrote in the caption:

“Kick, kick, kick 🔁”

The long-anticipated unification bout between Todd and Rodrigues is finally coming to fruition at ONE Fight Night 8 on Prime Video on March 25. Todd was initially slated to unify her newly-won interim belt against the Brazilian phenom on Dec. 2 at ONE on Prime Video 5, but was pulled from the card at the last minute due to testing positive for COVID-19.

COVID-free, Janet Todd is back on track to becoming the undisputed Muay Thai queen at ONE Championship. She heads into the bout with a slight advantage over Rodrigues, who hasn’t competed since August 2020 in order to focus on motherhood. While she was gone, Todd remained active, climbing her way up the ladder to win the ONE interim atomweight Muay Thai world title in July 2022.

Jackie Buntan says Janet Todd is aware of Allycia Hellen Rodrigues’ fast-paced fighting style

Boxing Works teammate Jackie Buntan says Janet Todd is well prepared for Allycia Hellen Rodrigues’ fast-paced fighting style.

Despite Rodrigues having only one fight under the ONE banner, she nevertheless left fans with a long-lasting impression. Coming out of the woodwork with a Muay Thai record of 30-5, Rodrigues made her ONE debut in August 2020 against former divisional queen Stamp Fairtex for Muay Thai gold.

Refusing to let Stamp find an ‘in’ with her power punches, Rodrigues stuck to her game plan and bullied the Thai superstar with her speed and accuracy to win the world title by majority decision. Even though it was just one fight, Janet Todd would be a fool not to take her fighting style seriously.

Speaking to SCMP MMA, Jackie Buntan spoke about Rodrigues with the following statement:

“Allycia’s a really good fighter. I like her style. She’s fun to watch. She – and her gym in general – they definitely have a style to them where they’re good at being in front of you. Not necessarily running at you at a crazy pace, but they’re able to keep that pace where they’re just constantly in front of you."

She added:

"We’re aware of that – just being able to deal with that. Of course, I’m always betting my money on Janet. I’m very confident she’ll be the [undisputed] Muay Thai world champion.”
