‘The Monkey God’ has called on a new training partner to prepare for his first strawweight world title defense. Brooks was seen grappling with his pitbull, who seemed overly excited about the opportunity.
Although there isn’t a winner or loser in training, the American’s dog deserves a treat for his effort. ONE Championship posted the footage with the caption saying:

The training video was posted on Instagram for entertainment, but Gustavo Balart isn’t laughing. The number four-ranked strawweight called out Brooks in the comment section by saying:
“I'm ready just tell me the day and time that I'll be there @the_monkeygod. @onechampionship @yodchatri”
Brooks made his ONE Championship debut in November 2021 and never received a tune-up fight. The American was quickly tested by Lito Adiwang, validating his hype with a second-round submission.
‘The Monkey God’ rode that momentum into 2022, taking out Hiroba Minowa and Bokang Masunyane before earning a title shot against Joshua Pacio.
He solidified himself as the best strawweight on the planet with a unanimous decision win against Pacio. The 29-year-old is now waiting for his first title challenger.

What’s next for Jarred Brooks?
There are several possible opponents for Jarred Brooks' first title. ‘The Monkey God’ currently holds wins over number one-ranked Joshua Pacio, number two Bokang Masunyane, and number three Hiroba Minowa. The most likely opponent would be an instant rematch against Pacio, but nothing has been confirmed.
If Pacio doesn’t get an instant rematch, No.4-ranked Gustavo Balart or No. 5-ranked Danial Williams could find themselves with a massive opportunity. It is also possible that Brooks will compete in a super-fight against Demetrious Johnson or another superstar.
Brooks scratched and clawed his way to becoming an MMA world champion, and he doesn’t plan on losing any time soon, regardless of the opponent. ‘The Monkey God’ recently posted on Twitter that he wants to see several hypothetical matchups to determine a top contender.
