Before Nong-O Hama returns to the foray to defend his ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title against Jonathan Haggerty, rewatch him destroy Liam Harrison at his own game.
The highly-anticipated co-main event at ONE on Prime Video 1, brought forth two of the greatest Muay Thai veterans from Thailand and Britain.
‘Hitman’ Liam Harrison grew an even bigger following in the US after defeating former Lumpinee champion Muangthai PK Saenchai by a staggering TKO in the first round. Pulling off one of the most entertaining comebacks of his career, Harrison took home a rare $100,000 performance bonus for his win and a one-way ticket to a world title shot.
Nong-O Hama, for his part, was coming off of an incredible world title defense victory against Felipe Lobo at ONE: X last year. Surprisingly, Lobo stood his ground and went two rounds with the pound-for-pound striker. However, it took one swift uppercut to the chin to end Lobo’s chances of becoming the new bantamweight Muay Thai king.

Regrettably, Harrison met the same fate but a lot faster than anyone could have anticipated. The divisional king began with quick jabs and leg kicks which Harrison mostly checked from the outside. However, things took a turn for the worst for ‘Hitman’ when a good kick to the leg buckled the UK star.

Nong-O Hama says he will have to watch out for Jonathan Haggerty’s spinning back elbows
ONE bantamweight king Nong-O Hama is leaving no stone unturned when it comes to preparing for ‘The General’ Jonathan Haggerty for their world title match at ONE Fight Night 9.
The 26-year-old superstar is a former ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion in his own right, and therefore, Nong-O Hama believes Haggerty has what it takes to turn the odds into his favor.
One of the most dangerous weapons to watch out for is Haggerty’s use of elbows in a striking battle, which has proven to be a devastating choice of weapon for him time and time again. Speaking to ONE Championship, the Thai legend said:
“The main thing I’ve noticed is that he uses a lot of elbows, especially spinning back elbows, so I will need to look out for those.”
Jonathan Haggerty returns to the foray 1-0 since he joined the bantamweight ranks earlier last year. Despite being a novice in a heavier division, Haggerty seems to have come into his own as he trains for one of the biggest world title fights of his career.
ONE Fight Night 9 goes down on April 21, US primetime, at the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium. The entire card is available live and for free to all Prime Video subscribers in North America.
