ONE Championship re-posted a career-defining moment for Adriano Moraes from 2014.
‘Mikinho’ became a well-known fighter to combat sports fans when he defeated Demetrious Johnson by knockout in April 2021. Before solidifying his legacy against ‘Mighty Mouse,’ the multiple-time ONE flyweight world champion had plenty of special moments in the Circle.
After starting his ONE tenure with a record of 2-1, Moraes was matched up against Geje Eustaquio with the flyweight world title on the line. In the first round, Eustaquio landed a clean flying knee, leading to a gruesome eye injury for the Brazilian. The fight wasn’t called off, and ‘Mikinho’ emerged victorious with a second-round submission.
Nearly eight and a half years later, ONE posted the courageous performance by Moraes on Instagram with the caption:

Moraes defended the ONE flyweight world title once before being dethroned by Kairat Akhmetov. He became the interim champion a year later and then avenged his loss to Akhmetov to secure the undisputed world championship. The Brazilian went on to defend his throne once, losing to Eustaquio, winning an instant rematch, and ultimately starting his series with ‘Mighty Mouse.’
