Alex Pereira is an accomplished professional kickboxer and a professional mixed martial artist from Brazil. He is currently signed with the elite professional mixed martial arts promotion, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Making his way into the promotion in 2021, Pereira is a former double-division champion of the organization, having reigned as the middleweight champion from November 2022 to April 2023 and as the UFC light heavyweight champion until March 2025.

In a professional mixed martial arts career that spans less than a decade, Alex Pereira’s resume is filled with prolific achievements. In his debut on October 24, 2015, Pereira lost by a third-round submission, and his recovery from the loss was nothing short of a dream run. Pereira won his next three fights via finishes in a dominant fashion and was signed by the UFC in September 2021.

Alex Pereira’s belts

Alex Pereira has a glaring career as a combat sports athlete filled with distinct accomplishments. In kickboxing, he became the Glory kickboxing middleweight champion in 2017 and recorded five successful title defenses. He won the Glory kickboxing interim light heavyweight title in 2019 and became undisputed champion in 2021 in the weight class.

In professional mixed martial arts, Alex Pereira won the UFC middleweight title by beating Israel Adesanya at UFC 281. He won the UFC light heavyweight championship by beating Jiri Prochazka at UFC 295. He is the only fighter to be a champion in two different weight classes in mixed martial arts and kickboxing.

Alex Pereira made his much-awaited promotional debut inside the octagon on November 6, 2021, against Andreas Michailidis at UFC 268. He defeated his inaugural opponent in the UFC by a second-round TKO and announced his arrival in style. Pereira defeated Bruno Silva and Sean Strickland before landing a middleweight title shot against Israel Adesanya. The duo faced each other for the middleweight championship bout at UFC 281. Pereira made quick work of Adesanya and defeated him via a second-round TKO to win the title.

After losing his middleweight title to Israel Adesanya in a rematch at 287, Alex Pereira moved up to the light heavyweight division to get rid of horrible weight cuts. In the new division, Pereira reigned as the undisputed champion up until his loss against Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 313.
