Yanez mentioned that during his last conversation with Soliz, he expressed his immense gratitude, stating that without Soliz's support, he wouldn't have achieved his current position. Yanez said that he always made sure to convey this appreciation on numerous occasions.

However, Font countered with a swift right hand that dropped Yanez, and he finished the fight by pouring hammer fists, forcing the referee to interfere and save Yanez at 2:57 of Round 1. For Font, this win ended a two-fight losing streak, while Yanez suffered his first UFC loss, ending a nine-fight winning streak and marking his first career finish.
