Paulo Costais a professional mixed martial artist from Brazil who has competed in the light heavyweight division and presently fights in the middleweight weight class. He has been a part of various professional mixed martial arts promotions before joining the elite Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Costa started training in Muay Thai in his teenage for a brief period before quitting it.

Under the apprenticeship of his brother, Paulo Costa started competing in jiu-jitsu. He eventually made his professional debut in mixed martial arts on February 5, 2012, at MMA Total Combat: Santa Luzia against Teo Esteves in a middleweight bout. Costa made quick work of Esteves and defeated him by a first-round TKO to win his debut fight and announce his arrival on the professional scene in style.

Riding high on a dominant debut success, Paulo Costa went on rampaging through his rivals and amassed a perfect record of 8 wins and 0 losses before getting signed by the UFC. On March 11, 2017, Paulo Costa made his promotional debut in the UFC and locked horns with Garreth McLellan at UFC Fight Night: Belfort vs. Gastelum. He continued his dominance and finished McLellan in the first round with a TKO to win the fight. Since his debut in the promotion, Paulo Costa has been a regular competitor in the leading professional mixed martial arts promotion and is currently ranked as the No. 7 middleweight in the organization’s middleweight rankings.
