In Texas, he started training with boxing legend Evander Holyfield and started amateur boxing before switching to professional boxing.

Regis Prograis entered the world of professional boxing against Carl Almirol on April 28, 2012. Prograis made a spectacular statement in his inaugural professional showdown by knocking out Almiron in the sixth round and picking up a dominant win. He went on scripting a dominating success story for himself as he kept climbing the ladder toward success in the sport. Prograis impressively defeated the then No. 4 ranked best active super lightweight boxer by The Ring. He put an end to Relikh’s reign by stopping him in the sixth round and winning his first world title at super lightweight.
