Diaz rose to global stardom with a 2016 submission win over Conor McGregor at UFC 196 on short notice, which remains one of the most iconic moments in his career. The much-anticipated rematch between the two at UFC 202 went on to be one of the most highlighted fights in MMA's recent history. Diaz's last UFC fight of his contract was a win over Tony Ferguson at UFC 279 in September 2022.
