American mixed martial artist, karateka, and model Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson was born on February 11, 1983. Thompson currently competes for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in the Welterweight division.

Thompson competed in full-contact kickboxing in the past and went undefeated in 20 professional and 37 amateur fights. In the UFC, Thompson is regarded as one of the best strikers. He is ranked #9 in the UFC welterweight rankings as of September 2024. Moreover, the veteran fighter will be facing Joaquin Buckley at UFC 307 on October 5, 2024.

What is Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson's walkout song?

Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson walks out to Tenacious D's "Wonderboy."

The song's lyrics read: "There sits Wonderboy, sitting oh so proudly. Wonderboy, what is the secret of your power? Wonderboy, won't you take me far away from the mucky-muck man?"

It is easy to assume that Thompson's stage name and walkout song are connected in some way. However, Thompson's nickname has a history that dates back to when he was a teenager. Thompson admitted that he first acquired the moniker "Wonderboy" when he was 15 years old.

“I ended up beating the brakes off this 26-year-old guy. After the fight, the announcer asked my opponent how it felt. He answered, ‘I wonder why I stepped in the ring with that boy and the announcer called me Wonderboy, and it stuck with me ever since.” Thompson disclosed.

Thompson is very particular and will "for always and forever be walking out on Wonderboy by Tenacious D," unlike many other fighters who might have a tendency to switch songs for their walkouts.
