Valentina Shevchenko is a 36-year-old professional mixed martial arts competitor who competes in the women’s flyweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Champion (UFC). She is the former UFC women’s flyweight champion. Shevchenko has been interested in combat sports since 2003, In a span of over a decade, she amassed over 90 wins in amateur and pro matches in K-1 Muay Thai and Kickboxing. She made her professional MMA debut at the age of 15 on April 21, 2003, at the Kyrgiz Federation of Kulatuu against Eliza Aidaralieva. Valentina competed in regional Kyrgiz, Russian, and Korean promotions and maintained a 6 fight-win streak which all resulted in first-round finishes. She later took a sabbatical from MMA and focussed on her Muay Thai and kickboxing career.

Before becoming a part of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Shevchenko competed in the Legacy Fighting Championship. Her UFC debut became a reality on December 20, 2015, against Sarah Kaufman at UFC on Fox 17 and went on to win the fight via unanimous decision. Valentina dominated the flyweight division in the promotion as its champion before losing her title to Alexa Grasso at UFC 285. She will be locking horns against Alexa Grasso for the flyweight title in the main event of UFC Fight Night: Grasso vs. Shevchenko 2 on September 16, 2023, at T-Mobile Arena, Paradise, Nevada, United States.
