Jake Paul has continuously claimed that his end goal is a fight with Canelo Alvarez but he has routinely failed to get the super boxing star's attention. However, in August 2023, Paul got Alvarez to respond to him.
One month before his fight with Jermell Charlo, a reporter from Mirror Fighting asked Alvarez if he thinks Paul could ever be on his level. The 34-year-old laughed off the idea, saying he is on "another level" and that the celebrity boxer needs to "calm down."
Alvarez said:
"My level is another level. Look, I think he needs to enjoy what he's doing and that's it. He needs to calm down and start calling out people with other levels... He's doing good things."

The quote came after Paul's win over Nate Diaz which was the seventh of his career and first since suffering a defeat to Tommy Fury six months prior.
Paul has been calling out Alvarez since his rise to prominence in the boxing world and has continued to do so in his following fights. 'The Problem Child' is hell bent on becoming a world champion despite many people still not seeing him as a "real" fighter.
Canelo Alvarez vs. Edgar Berlanga set to go down next Saturday
While Jake Paul continues to chase him, Canelo Alvarez has not stopped building on his legacy as one of the greatest fighters of his generation. On Sept. 14, Alvarez will put his WBC, WBO and WBA super-middleweight world titles on stake against Edgar Berlanga.
Berlanga, 27, enters his first world title fight with a 22-0 record. He is coming off a win over Irish veteran Padraig McCrory and is the former NABO super middleweight champion.
Meanwhile, Canelo Alvarez became the 168-pound undisputed titleholder with a win over Caleb Plant in 2021. However, he was stripped of his IBF title after failing to defend his belt against William Scull in July this year. Should Alvarez come out on top, it would be his fifth straight win since suffering a loss to Dmitry Bivol in 2022.
