Dana White, as were many in the MMA world, was astonished by Jon Jones' successful light heavyweight title defense against Dominick Reyes at UFC 247. Unfortunately, the UFC CEO's astonishment wasn't a positive one. Instead, it was more akin to shock.
At the time, it was a pervasive opinion that Reyes had done enough to beat Jones on the scorecards. The judges, however, disagreed, awarding 'Bones' a unanimous decision win. Yet, it remains one of the closest fights of Jones' career, and according to White, Jones should have lost.
When speaking to the media at the UFC 247 post-fight press conference, White did not hold back on his thoughts.
"The scoring was all over the map. Joe Solo, the former matchmaker here, had it a draw. Kevin Iole hit me up, he had Jones 3-2 going into the last round. I had Dominick Reyes 3-1 going into the last round. My kids are terrorizing me that the fix is in and 'How can this happen, dad? Reyes won that fight,' and the list goes on and on of people that are reaching out to me."

White, however, wasted no time in downplaying the possibility that Reyes had beaten Jones, highlighting just how divisive opinions were surrounding the UFC 247 main event scorecards.
"So, it's not like there's this landslide of people saying there was a robbery or whatever. People have it all over the place. But the reality is, who gives a sh*t? We're not judges. None of us are judges, the judges call the fight and that's that."

Reyes himself has always maintained that he beat Jones, disputing the official result. Unfortunately for him, the loss to Jones was the start of a four-fight losing streak that he only just broke with a knockout of Dustin Jacoby.
Dana White once shared his thoughts on another controversial Jon Jones fight in the past
Long before Jon Jones' championship days, he was a light heavyweight prospect and faced Matt Hamill in just his fourth UFC fight. Despite dominating the bout, Jones was disqualified in round one for using illegal 12-6 elbows. It remains his only loss, and one that Dana White has tried to overturn for years.
"I've been trying to do that [overturn the loss] since it happened."

Now, 15 years later, a rule change will come into effect whereby 12-6 elbows will no longer be banned. This, however, will likely have no bearing on Jones' loss to Hamill, despite White's best attempts to rectify it.
