UFC commentator Joe Rogan was firmly behind Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk colliding prior to their clash this past May. The Ukrainian emerged victorious over Fury by split decision to become the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis in 2000.

Before this undisputed heavyweight title bout, which was Fury’s first loss in his professional boxing career, Rogan praised the 36-year-old British boxer on his podcast by saying:

“Tyson Fury was good…he is the best. I just hope that the Usyk fight happens. Tyson Fury is in my opinion he is like one of the hardest puzzles to solve in the history of the heavyweight division…”

The UFC commentator praised 'The Gypsy King's' boxing talents and commended his speed and aggression in the ring, as well as his ability to knock down Deontay Wilder twice.

During the podcast, Rogan and Shane Gillis also discussed how 'The Gypsy King' defeated 'The Bronze Bomber' for the WBC heavyweight title. Even after being knocked down briefly, the British boxer recovered and dethroned Wilder.

Fury is now set to rematch Usyk in an attempt to avenge his lone career loss. The heavyweight title clash will happen on Saturday at Riyadh’s Kingdom Arena.

Joe Rogan was impressed by Tyson Fury’s comeback story

Tyson Fury has a chance for redemption against Oleksandr Usyk this weekend. In 2015, Fury became the heavyweight champion after defeating Wladimir Klitschko. However, battling depression and suicidal thoughts, he soon ballooned up to 400 pounds.

He stayed out of the ring for almost three years. In 2018, he returned and beat Sefer Seferi and Francesco Pianeta back to back. Before the first of his trilogy fights against then-WBC champion Deontay Wilder, Fury appeared on the Joe Rogan Experience and talked about his harrowing story of depression and mental health issues.

Rogan was startled after hearing the British combatant's account, and he later commended 'The Gypsy King' for speaking up about these issues. The UFC commentator said:

“Kudos to you for doing that. So few people have the courage to talk about their struggles when they go through that because it seems like a weakness. It’s very powerful that you’re willing to do that and just be open and honest about that.”
