UFC color commentator Joe Rogan, in the past, explained how the founder of WikiLeaks, Julian Assange, was "tortured" by the authorities after publishing the truth about alleged government lies and atrocities in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The Australian editor started the ethical reporting website in October 2006 on a quest for “radical transparency and truth." The website published several classified reports and sensitive government documents related to war, spying, and corruption.

However, scrutiny swirled around him in 2010 when he published confidential documents supplied by former US Army intelligence analyst Chelsea Manning. These reports suggested that the US military had killed hundreds of civilians in unreported incidents during the war in Afghanistan.

Rogan, in a past episode on his podcast, shed light on the alleged "torture" endured by Assange on the grounds of exposing the atrocities of the government. Speaking in an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, he said:

"Julian Assange is literally being tortured. I mean the guy was locked in an embassy for how many years with no exposure to daylight, completely trapped. You've seen videos of him skateboarding around the embassy but he's going crazy. Now he's in jail on trial. The whole thing is so disturbing when it boils down to what did he do that is illegal?"

Rogan added:

"The fact that you in this country [United States] can be prosecuted for [exposing atrocities] and they would try to extradite you and drag you from another country... They kick him out of the embassy and bring him back to the United States to trial him for that... it seems like we're talking about some Kangaroo court."

In fresh developments from the story, Assange agreed on a plea deal with U.S. prosecutors. He returned to Australia as a free man after pleading guilty in the District Court for the Northern Mariana Islands to a charge of conspiring to obtain and disclose classified U.S. national defense documents.

Joe Rogan warns Paige VanZant about competing in Power Slap

Former UFC women's strawweight and flyweight contender Paige VanZant will test herself in the slap-fighting realm having signed with the Power Slap recently.

VanZant signed a deal with the organization and is set to make her debut on June 28 on Power Slap 8. UFC color commentator Joe Rogan warned '12 Gauge' against a move to the slap-fighting format on a recent JRE Fight Companion segment, pointing out the brutal nature of the sport. He said:

"Don’t do it, Paige. Unless she makes a deal where [she says] 'I get to slap first.' Can you do that? Can you say 'I’ll fight you, but I get to slap first?' What are we doing here? It’s free brain damage. Like why?"
