In an old episode of Joe Rogan Experience (JRE), the popular podcaster highlighted Alex Pereira's kickboxing, power, and left hook ahead of his arrival in the UFC.
Pereira signed with the UFC on Sept. 3, 2021. Before joining the organization, he started his fight career as a kickboxer, securing the Glory light heavyweight and middleweight titles.
'Poatan' shared a clip from JRE of the UFC commentator praising his technique in 2020. In the video, Rogan said:
"I'm really interested in Alex Pereira. Alex Pereira who is in the Glory, I believe he is a two-division champion…he is fu*king terrifying. He is the last guy to KO Adesanya. He is on my radar…That motherfu*ker just puts people into orbits. He KO’s everybody…these are world-class kickboxers and this motherf*cker just puts them into another dimension.”

Joe Rogan calls Alex Pereira an "Instant Hall of Famer"
Alex Pereira has become the cage's most feared figure thanks to his distinctive, strong, and stunning left hook. 'Poatan' has won belts in two separate weight classes in a total of 10 appearances in the UFC.
Pereira has KO'd top light heavyweight contenders like Jiri Prochazka and Jamahal Hill, among others and is now on a five-fight winning streak.
In his most recent bout against Khalil Rountree Jr. at UFC 307, 'Poatan' left his opponent bloodied and finished him along the fence, defending his strap for a third time in 2024.
In episode #2164 of the JRE, UFC commentator Joe Rogan opined that Pereira is built different and stated:
"He’s looking good, he’s the champ, two-division champ. Bro, two-division champ in just a handful of fights in the UFC. Instant Hall of Famer. And you know, he’s just different than everybody else in that he’s such a specialist...He’s not taking nobody down, like you never have to worry about him trying to take you down, he’s not even interested..."
