Dustin Poirier's thoughts on improving things in life deeply impacted comedian Theo Von. Poirier has had one of the most inspiring career trajectories, where he built himself back up from devastating losses and established himself as one of the very best in arguably the most competitive division in the UFC.

In an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience (JRE) podcast, which came out on June 27, Rogan was joined by Theo Von, and the two discussed the methods to improve and get better. Von shared a text message from Poirier that motivated him and said:

"Dustin texted me one day. He's like, 'You can't wait for everything to be okay to live your life.' You ever get a text when somebody says... One of those moments where it gets through to you? And I was like, 'F***, yeah!"

Joe Rogan seconds Theo Von's thoughts and lauds Dustin Poirier's achievements

Joe Rogan has interacted with Dustin Poirier on the JRE podcast and witnessed the Louisiana native's growth as an analyst for the UFC. Responding to Theo Von's comments in the aforementioned episode of the podcast, Rogan said:

"It's a very good point and obviously coming from a guy like him, who's accomplished incredible things and done so in one of the most difficult things to accomplish... He's a cage fighter at the highest level of the game. We're talking about a guy who knocked out Conor McGregor."

He added:

"He's a beast. His ability to get things done is exceptional. He's an exceptional person. So his understanding of that fact that you can't just wait for things to get perfect... You've just got to go out and do stuff." [2:21:35]

Poirier is regarded as one of the greatest lightweight fighters in UFC history. The 35-year-old has consistently fought the best competitors the division has had to offer. He held the interim UFC lightweight title in 2019 and despite falling short in his multiple attempts at becoming the undisputed champion, he has garnered the respect of many.

Remarkably, Poirier has been ranked in the top five of the lightweight division for over half a decade and holds wins over the likes of Conor McGregor (X2), Max Holloway (X2), Dan Hooker, Justin Gaethje (1-1) and Eddie Alvarez, among others.
