Anshul Jubli, born in New Delhi in 1995, is an Indian mixed martial artist signed by the UFC and the first to win promotion. In 2019, Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff founded Matrix Fight Night (MFN), where Jubli made his professional debut, defeating Sanjeet Budhwar by a uniamous decision.

Jubli advanced to the semifinals of the 2022 Road to UFC Lightweight Tournament after Patrick Sho Usami was disqualified. He won a split decision against Kyung Pyo Kim in the semifinals. Jubli then faced Jeka Saragih in the UFC Fight Night: Lewis vs. Spivak finals, winning by TKO submission and receiving an UFC contract.

Anshul Jubli’s Training

Anshul Jubli trains at Crosstrain Fight Club in India and Soma Fight Club in Indonesia. Anshul Jubli is from the town of Bhatwari, which is close to Uttarkashi town in the Uttarkashi district of the Garhwal division in the state of Uttarakhand in northern India. His father worked for the Border Security Force (BSF), and as a result of his father's transfers, he was raised in several Indian states. His family eventually made Dehradun their home.

He started preparing for the Services Selection Board (SSB) and Combined Defense Service (CDS) exams in order to get recruited by the Indian Army. After his friend's brother introduced him to mixed martial arts (MMA) in 2015, he began to watch the sport on various media platforms.

Before pursuing mixed martial arts, Jubli's worked as a school teacher after earning a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University. He found mixed martial arts (MMA) on YouTube in 2017 while studying for the Indian Army's recruitment exam. He watched videos of MMA coach Firas Zahabi, a Lebanese-Canadian, and Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) and MMA teacher John Danaher.

Jubli and his friend used to mimic the techniques and learn them after seeing the videos. Since there were no teaching or training facilities in his hometown of Dehradun, he joined Siddharth Singh's MMA club, Crosstrain Fight Club, in Delhi. Jubli trained under Deepak Karai on his strength and fitness, picked up skills in the ground game, and discovered how to combine all of these things into the sport of mixed martial arts. Under amateur boxer Rohit Tokas, he received boxing instruction at Tokas Boxing Club.

Jubli later signed up for Matrix Fight Night (MFN) in 2019, an MMA promotion started by Bollywood star Tiger Shroff.

Anshul Jubli’s Coach

Anshul Jubli’s coach is Siddhart Singh, and in Indonesia, he is trained by Mike Ikilei.

Anshul Jubli caught the attention of Somesh Kamra, the UFC's top talent scout in India, due to his five-fight winning streak in the MFN. Jubli was signed up by Kamra for the Road to the UFC tournament following discussions with his coach, Siddharth Singh.

When Jubli learned about the entire situation, he was overjoyed. In an interview with the renowned news organization "Hindustan Times," Jubli said, "I felt like I was on the right path. I had a clear path in front of me; win Road to UFC, get into UFC, then get into UFC top rankings, then win UFC belt, make history.” Jubli also entered the Road to UFC with a little bit of good fortune. Patrick Sho. Usami, his first opponent, was unable to weigh in for the fight. Jubli thus progressed to the semi-finals of this three-bout event by default.

In the semifinals, he faced Kyung Pyo Kim of South Korea. The bout ultimately went to the judge's cards for a decision following a back-and-forth three-round struggle with the South Korean. Jubli was declared the semi-final winner on a split decision. It prepared him for his road to the UFC match against Jeka Saragih at UFC Vegas 68. Jubli, though, never lacked confidence in his victory. As he had said earlier, “I’m gonna get that contract for India, for me, and for my family.”

Jubli won against Jeka Saragih and is scheduled to fight against Mike Breeden at UFC 294 on October 21, 2023.
