John Gotti III is an American professional mixed martialist and boxer who was born on November 2, 1992, in Oyster Bay Cove, Long Island, New York. He is the grandson of the notorious mob boss John Gotti, who led the Gambino crime family. Adding to that history, Gotti III's father, John A Gotti Jr., also had dealings with the crime family. This legacy created a big shadow over most of John Gotti III’s young life. Even with all the baggage of his family's infamous name and legacy, Gotti III decided to follow a career path in combat sports. He became involved in MMA after watching a UFC match with his father.

He began training in the sport in 2014, starting at Bellmore Kickboxing MMA in New York. The gym is best known for churning out UFC veterans. Turning pro in MMA in October 2017, Gotti III debuted with CES MMA and won by first-round TKO. He turned the welterweight division on its ear with four consecutive first-round wins. Beyond the cage, Gotti III has been in several major headlines, most recently in June 2023 when a boxing exhibition bout with Floyd Mayweather Jr. ended in a wild brawl that drew much attention from the media. Mayweather Jr. and Gotti are set to face off once again on August 24, 2024, in an exhibition boxing match.
