Polyana Viana’s UFC Career

Viana's UFC journey commenced at UFC Fight Night: Machida vs. Anders on February 3, 2018, where she confronted Maia Stevenson. Her victory in the first round came via a rear-naked choke.

In May 2018, plans were announced for Viana to contend against JJ Aldrich at UFC 227 in August. In this bout, Viana faced a unanimous decision loss as Aldrich showcased superior boxing skills.

At UFC 235, her next challenge was against Hannah Cifers, a match she lost through a split decision.

Subsequently, Viana faced Veronica Macedo at UFC Fight Night: Shevchenko vs. Carmouche 2, stepping in for Rachael Ostovich. Contrary to expectations, Viana was submitted via armbar by Macedo, marking her first submission defeat.

Scheduled to face Emily Whitmire at UFC 248 in March 2020, Viana's fight encountered obstacles due to Whitmire's weight issues. The bout was eventually canceled when Whitmire was hospitalized on the event day. The two fighters were rescheduled for UFC Fight Night 175 in August 2020, where Viana secured victory through an armbar in the first round.

Viana achieved another win at UFC 258 against Mallory Martin on February 13, 2021. Her armbar in the first round earned her the Performance of the Night award.

Viana's UFC journey continued with a fight against Tabatha Ricci on May 21, 2022, resulting in a unanimous decision loss.

In a bout against Jinh Yu Frey on November 5, 2022, at UFC Fight Night 214, Viana triumphed with a first-round knockout, securing another Performance of the Night award.

Viana was initially set to face Emily Ducote at UFC on ESPN 45 on April 29, 2023, but the fight was rescheduled for UFC Fight Night 223 on May 20, 2023. However, she withdrew from the contest due to undisclosed reasons, and Lupita Godinez took her place at a catchweight of 120 pounds.

Robbery Attempt on Polyana Viana

Polyana Viana demonstrated her quick thinking and self-defense skills during an incident in January 2019. As she was waiting outside her apartment complex, a robber approached with what turned out to be a fake gun in order to rob her. But Viana's training and instinct kicked in, and she responded courageously and with resourcefulness to the situation at hand.

Viana took immediate action to defend herself. Without hesitation, she delivered powerful punches that subdued the would-be robber until police arrived - not only stopping an attempted robbery but demonstrating her ability to respond effectively in dangerous situations.

Authorities conducted a meticulous investigation and ultimately concluded that Viana's actions were an act of self-defense, and she did not face any charges in relation to them.
