Joshua James Emmett is an American MMA fighter who hails from Phoenix, Arizona, United States. He made his octagon debut in 2011 and has also competed for King of the Cage. He is currently ranked #8 in the UFC featherweight rankings as of April 2025.

Josh Emmett went pro in 2011, winning his debut despite breaking his hand. After multiple injuries and long layoffs, he joined WFC in 2013, racking up wins and claiming the lightweight title in 2014. In 2015, he won via arm-triangle choke, then returned in 2016 to defeat ex-UFC fighter Christos Giagos by TKO, earning the ISCF Pro California Lightweight Title.

Josh Emmett suffered his second professional setback at UFC on Fox 28 on February 24, 2018, where he faced Jeremy Stephens in a closely contested fight. Emmett showcased his explosive striking early on, landing heavy punches and kicks. However, Stephens showed his resilience and came back strong in the later rounds.

In the final moments of the second round, Stephens landed a devastating left hook that dropped Emmett, resulting in a TKO victory for Stephens.

Yair Rodriguez vs. Josh Emmett

Josh Emmett suffered his third loss against Yair Rodriguez at UFC 284 on February 12, 2023.

In the second round, Rodriguez connected with a flying knee and swiftly transitioned to a triangle choke, ultimately forcing Emmett to submit. This win was particularly significant for Rodriguez, who had been sidelined for more than a year due to injury. As a result, Rodriguez became the interim champion.

Josh Emmett vs. Ilia Topuria

Josh Emmett's most recent loss was against the reigning UFC featherweight champion, Ilia "El Matador" Topuria. Topuria outclassed Emmett in the striking department and won the fight via a unanimous decision after five rounds of fighting.
