Vicente Luque (born November 27, 1991) is an American/Brazilian MMA fighter who currently competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship welterweight division. At present, he holds #11 on the rankings list for this weight class.
Luque was born November 27th, 1991, as a mixed heritage kid to a Brazilian mother and Chilean father in Westwood, New Jersey. Since his maternal grandmother served as a diplomat for many years in the country of Chile, his mother was brought up there, where she met and later married his father before coming back home to America to reside permanently.
Luque was raised trilingual, speaking Portuguese, Spanish, and English fluently. Beginning karate classes as soon as he could walk at age three, Luque eventually trained in multiple forms of martial arts - beginning in karate training at the young age of four. At six, Vicente relocated from Mexico to Brazil with his mother and continued training in karate until age 10.
After trying soccer for a short while, he transitioned into Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as a teen before making the shift to mixed martial arts in 2008. By 2021, he had achieved both black belts in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and the Brazilian martial art, Luta Livre, on the same day.
