Zhang Weili was born on August 13th, 1989, and currently competes as an elite mixed martial artist from China. She is a two-time UFC Women's Strawweight Champion since 2013. Weili first made her MMA professional debut with Kunlun Fight, an Asian MMA promotion, where she held onto their Women's Strawweight Champion crown before debuting with UFC Women's Strawweight competition two years down the line. Zhang Weili entered the professional MMA scene in 2013, facing a setback in her debut against Meng Bo. However, she rebounded impressively, clinching 11 consecutive victories. Her journey included claiming the Kunlun Fight Female Strawweight Championship by defeating Simone Duarte in May 2017 via second-round TKO.
Following this success, Zhang defended her title against Aline Sattelmayer in June 2017, securing a unanimous decision victory. In July of the same year, she pursued another championship, capturing the vacant Top FC Strawweight Championship by TKOing Seo Ye-dam in the second round at TOP FC 15.

In her second title defense, Zhang Weili squared off against the former strawweight champion, Rose Namajunas, in a highly anticipated showdown that took place on April 24, 2021, during UFC 261.
Namajunas recaptured the UFC women’s strawweight title by knocking out Zhang Weili. Namajunas claimed victory with a left head kick just 1 minute 18 seconds into the first round in front of around 15,000 spectators. Zhang had been favored but was overcome by Namajunas' precision.
